Yesterday I finished watching the excellent Pluralsight “Designing VMware Infrastructure” course by Scott Lowe. I had taken a lot of notes on Google Docs while watching this course and I now wanted to push these private notes to my Kindle for offline studying.
Problem was that I had added several images and diagrams to my study notes, and I had issues when sending the document to my Kindle: the text would show up, but not the images, and the PDF format is just unusable on the Kindle. After different unsuccessful tries a neurone decided to work and I told myself why not use the Microsoft Word format after all? This little trick worked wonderfully.
Here’s how to proceed:
- Open your document in Google Docs
- Click on “File” / “Email as attachment”
- Choose “Attach as Microsoft Word (.docx)”
- Send to your @free.kindle.com or @kindle.com address
- Enjoy!
Back to the course, many others have taken it and it is definitely a must watch for anyone considering a switch from an admin role to an architect role. It helps you get the correct mindset and although I was already doing things in the way an architect does, it has very much broadened my perception of the architect role.
