Don’t miss our VMUGCZ meeting in Prague on 6. 12. 2016!

November 23, 2016

We did it again! The second Czech VMUG meeting will take place in Prague on 6th December 2016. The selected venue for this event is again Hotel Barcelo in Prague 4. Instructions to reach the hotel are included in the VMUG event page (see link below). Breakfast, lunch and coffee breaks will be graciously provided to our attendees.

We are going for a full day event this time, and we will have two international guests presenting:

  • Paudie O’Riordan (Ireland) will present what’s new with NSX 6.5. If you don’t know Paudie, well, you should, because Paudie happens to work closely with Duncan Epping and Cormac Hogan on the vSAN team at VMware
  • Katarina Wagnerova (Slovakia) will talk about her experience with the Virtual Design Master challenge. Katarina won Season 4 as you can see here. If you don’t know what VDM is, don’t worry, I don’t know either and I’m looking forward to hear about it directly from Katarina!

We will also welcome the two Czech VCDXs, David Pasek and Stanimir Markov. Both will present in sponsored sessions (VMware for David, and RuneCast for Stanimir). I really trust them in putting all of their knowledge and passion to present something really interesting. We will of course also have sponsor-related sessions, all the details are in the agenda (link below).

I must say I am immensely proud on behalf of our VMUG to welcome Katarina, as I am a staunch supporter of empowering women in IT and in the STEM fields in general. When I mean women in IT I don’t mean women in marketing departments or doing PR, I mean engineers, architects, developers, folks who have a passion for IT and if they are also nerd/geeks then it’s even better. IT should not be an old men’s club, it should be open for whoever has the talent, inspiration and passion for this field. So thanks Katarina for being with us. I hope that you will inspire many of us guys to accept diversity in IT and that you will also be a role model & an inspiration for women in our field, as well as for girls who want to learn about STEM.

One last point is that for our next meeting we really want to insist towards our VMUG members to take a step forward and don’t be afraid about presenting, we are hoping to get a better balance next time. Don’t be afraid to talk in public: we are not a hearing comittee, this is not “Cesko hleda superstar” and no one is here to judge you. We, as your peers in IT, are interested to hear your experiences, stories, achievements. Our goal as a community is not just to have you come two times a year for free food and to just listen to sponsored sessions. Our goal is to help each other, to strive for improvement and to elevate ourselves as better professionals.

Some final notes:

  • We have a hard limit to 60 places max therefore please register ASAP!
  • You can find details about the conference (and register) on the official VMUG event page here.

I would like to commend the hard work done by my friends and co-leaders Tomas Kuba and Karel Novak who have been working very hard to make this meeting happen.

I’d also like to extend my thanks to the sponsors who are helping us to provide a pleasant experience to the attendees:

  • Veeam
  • G2 Server
  • Runecast
  • ArrowECS

See you in Prague on Tuesday, December 6th 2016!
